Canadian Sculptor Alastair Hesseltine makes his art-works with what ever nature brings him or by natural resources wich inspire him. Alaister learned his traditional occupation in France and England. Alastair made basketmaking into an art .His creations are inspired by nature but also the human body has his attention as an artist.
Hornby Island in British Columbia ,Canada is the base for this artist and in such surroundings it’s easy to get your inspiration. On his farm ( yes,he’s also a farmer ) he gives courses in basketmaking.
On the grounds around his home Alastair grows all kind of sprigs and twigs, mostly Salix , for his Baskets and Artworks.
