Bloomingdale Trail Brings New Life to Chicago Abandoned Rail Park.

bd1The designs are almost ready and the first part will open later this year in autumn ; the new Bloomingdale Trail in Chicago, a abandoned elevated rail park  turned into a public park . First you will think of the famous High Line Park in New York ( with the plantings of Piet Oudolf ) , a elevated public park , but the Bloomingdale Trail is much lower ( 18 feet average ) and a residential area.

bd5 The new park connects 6 excisting parks and is 3 miles long. The park designed by Michael van Valkenburgh Associates , Collins Engineers and Chicago-artist Frances Whitehead works with a budget of $ 91 million. bd7

The new park has two paths, one with soft shoulder,fountains and benches and a meandering nature path,a space for exploration.bd6
