Christmas is the excellent time for Gardening and Floral Design to meet up. Many Gardeners get this Decoration-Fever this time of the year. Gardeners can use their garden to make great season displays indoors. Twigs, Berries and lots of different foliages can be of use for arrangements. Take your Green indoors. Conifers are great for color in the Garden in every Season of the year. For Christmas we can enjoy their great variety of colors indoors and outdoors. And let’s not forget their great fragrance when we use them in our homes for decorations. Here some more examples of great Conifers.
Most Ilex varieties are perfect for Christmas arrangements. Ilex aquifolium with their dark green foliage and red berries are a Christmas Classic!
The long stems of Ilex aquifolium are of great use in bigger arrangements and Guirlandes.
Ilex verticullata is the one variety of Ilex that drops his leafs in autumn. Many Florists use this variety in arrangments. The straight stems can be as long as 1 meter. They don’t come cheap, so better plant some in your garden. They can be of use in the years to come.
The orange flowers you see are Nutans. A flower from South Africa. When you use them dry, like i a Wreath, they keep their form and color for weeks. Eucalypthus varieties, Herbs, Hydrangea are also great for arrangements. Use as much as you can from your garden, collect cones, sprigs and twigs from the nearby forest. But don’t destroy trees and other nature, be carefull.
